Goals: Recovery from Religious Trauma
We secular clinicians are all working hard to both understand Religious Trauma Syndrome and working hard to know just what to do with each client. We have the tremendous advantage of having far better understanding these days of how to work with clients who have experienced trauma of many sorts.
Myself, I've been working hard to learn, best, how to treat clients who've experienced trauma, my ultimate goal being to be a to go person for religious trauma syndrome symptoms in my area, with the many varieties of approaches needed for recovery and healing. My goal is to be as effective and sensitive as I possibly can be when working with the people who seek help for all issues related to religious deconversion and trauma.
I've called and emailed other clinicians around the country who work specifically with this population, looking for the keys to the castle. I think that the training I've been getting for myself is the right stuff. I plan on writing more and more on this blog about what I discover in this specific area so that other clinicians can find it and so that others who read this can be informed as well.
For clinicians, I'd like to recommend a PESI training that I completed recently, giving me the CCTP certification, Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. I can say that this training, mostly lead by Drs. Robert Rhoton and J. Eric Gentry, both exceptional teachers and researchers in the field of trauma. Highly recommended!
Fairly priced. Pretty intense. Really excellent content.
Stay tuned.
We're getting there.
